Kitty and Violet

Posted by Heidi at 17:02 in Uncategorized

I never expected to divulge this much information on my blog; however, the last few weeks have been extremely difficult for me. I ended my engagement for reasons I can’t disclose, my health dropped to an all time low, and I just find myself increasingly miserable and unmotivated.

Instead of forcing myself to blog, I turned my attention to sewing. I’ve never been great at sewing, and this fact always kept me one step away from opening my Etsy store. But with a whole lot of determination, I realised that practice does at least make you a whole lot better. And I discovered I really could create beautiful things that were true to my personality. I didn’t have to stick with what I thought others wanted.

Naturally, I didn’t become a talented seamstress overnight. But I did become something else. Brave enough to try anything if I can imagine it inside my head.

I’m not ready to sell my work yet, but I’m getting there. I have a vision, and I am actively chasing my dreams of sewing and creating. And that’s where Kitty and Violet comes into it.. If you would like to continue your support for me, please visit my new little adventure here. You can also follow me on Twitter.

Everything At Once

Posted by Heidi at 21:31 in Bloggish

You may or may not have noticed, but I made the move to WordPress! I have used it as a blogging platform previously, but decided to return to Blogger upon opening Tilly and Kira, mainly because of financial reasons. However, I have now had the opportunity to move back, so here I am!

I have quite an extensive list of projects for the blog in February– it’s going to be a busy month! January wasn’t as productive as I’d first hoped, but other things in my life were vying for my attention.. and as I guess you all know, sometimes that sort of thing can’t always be helped.

The Veggie Challenge

Posted by Heidi at 06:09 in Cooking, The Veggie Challenge

1. Spicy Corn and Carrot Fritters
2. Chargrilled Vegetable and Ricotta Cannelloni
3. Curried Vegetable Burgers

With the hope of saving money (and eating a little healthier) I’ve decided to embark on what I’m calling the Veggie Challenge! I’m not becoming 100% vegetarian, but I am going to attempt to make (at least) every second meal a vegetarian option. Meat is usually the most expensive item on our grocery list, so if I can even halve this cost, I’ll be happy!

I haven’t done much vegetarian cooking before (not including side dishes), so I wasn’t sure where to start. To begin with, I was unsure of what to make that would tick both boxes of being nutritious and filling. After a little bit of browsing, I discovered a number of delicious dishes that appealed to just as much as anything I’d ever made with meat.

I’m pretty excited to get started on this little venture! What could be better than saving money and eating healthy/delicious food..
